All of our smocks are designed and made by Philippa Corfield.
Philippa has been sewing beautiful and practical garments for more than 35 years.
She attended the London College of Fashion in the late 80's and was fortunate to secure her first sewing job with renowned costumiers Wallace and McMurray, close to home in rural Norfolk. Subsequently Philippa worked as a costume maker at Glyndebourne, and has worked as a freelance costume maker for many years, working on prestigious film and theatre productions such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Being Julia, Royal Birmingham Ballet, The Lion King, Theatre Royal Norwich, Glyndebourne Tour, Frozen and many more.
Smock Norfolk was originally the brainchild of Sue Rainsford, who was Philippa's Fashion and Textile A level tutor at college.
Sue encouraged Philippa to apply to LCF and has been a longstanding friend and customer. Sue commissioned Philippa to make smocks for her business, and has recently retired.
Philippa was delighted to acquire the business and continue Sue's passion for beautiful garments that are practical and hardwearing.
